Lawler Consulting LLC began in a small town, Alturas, California in 1996 as a individual practice for the treatment of substance use disorders. The counselor, consultant, and owner of this service is Marita Lawler, PhD, DCh., MS-HS, M-RAS, CCDCS.
In 1998, Lawler Consulting LLC made the move to Chickaloon, Alaska in order to provide services and referrals for clients in Southcentral Alaska where substance use disorders and addictions are a major problem affecting individuals, families, employers, and communities.

Marita has 30 years experience providing counseling, consultations, mentoring and referral services for substance use disorders, and addictions. She has worked in various settings (detox, outpatient, inpatient, public, private, profit, and non-profit) and with variety of clients (adolescents, adults, males, females, individuals, couples, and groups). Marita Lawler is a Alaska State Certified (not licensed) Chemical Dependency Clinical Supervisor and Counselor. Marita earned a Doctor of Philosophy Specializing in Addiction Psycholgoy (Harold Abel School of Psychology-Capella University, 2007), a Masters of Science in Human Service with Emphasis on Addictions (Capella University, 2000), and a Bachelor of Science in Human Services--Specializing in Mental Health and Rehabilitation Services (Thomas Edison State College, 1998). Marita holds certifications in the following areas: Master Addictions Counselor, Masters Level-Registered Addictions Specialist, Certified Chemical Dependency Clinical Supervisor, Certified Criminal Justice Addiction Specialist, Certified Relapse Prevention Specialist. In practice, Marita employs Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, Christian and Bible Based Pastoral Counseling and 12-Step Self Help Programs to develop personalized treatment plans to address client's individual needs.
